Two weeks later

"So you claim she was plotting against Valoran?" the High Councilor asked Jericho Swain, as they were speaking in the privacy of the Councilor's office.
"That is what I believe," Swain answered. "I suppose she was expecting the Voidlings to be merciful. I do believe she got the short end of the stick there. It's a shame Jinx and Darius went down with her."
"True shame indeed," the Councilor said. "Who told you these things? I can hardly imagine you were there yourself."
"Katarina has sent word of the Summoner's betrayal. I could tell from the writing that she was attached to the girl. All the more the loss for her." Swain sighed. "I do feel sorry for it. She had such potential."
"Unfortunate. Still, I have a hard time accepting her to be a master planner," the High Councilor said.
"Why would you say that? You've barely talked to her."
"Well, you see, I..." the Councilor said before a knock sounded on the door.
"Were you expecting someone?" Swain asked.
"My next appointment must be a bit early, I apologize." He stood up. "You don't mind if I let her in?"
"By all means, let her in. Your office, your rules," Swain complied.

The High Councilor opened up. "Come on in. You're a bit early."
"Better too early than too late, right?" Swain's eyes widened. He turned in his seat and, sure enough, there stood Helen. "Surprised, Swain?"
"What? I had Vel'Koz's assurance that you would die! I..." That was when Swain realized what he had said, and slapped his hand over his mouth.
"Gotcha!" Helen shouted. "You WERE trying to have me assassinated!"
"How did you get back here so fast? There's no way you could have done it over land," Swain protested.
"Ashe got us on a boat that ran the Kaladoun up to the League. I've been here for three days."
"I'm afraid you've incriminated yourself, my friend," the High Councilor said. "I suggest you leave the premises."
"You have not seen the last of me," Swain said as he got up and stormed past the pair of them.

Helen chuckled. "Funny how things always go awry in intricate plans like his."
The High Councilor nodded. "That won't stop him. Anyways, down to business. Please, Helen, have a seat."
Helen obliged. "Why did you ask me here? I told you my story when we arrived. Please don't tell me you believe any of the nonsense he was spewing," she said, pointing out the door.
"Don't worry, Helen, I don't. Swain's a born schemer, I would have expected him to lie either way. I've called you here because you're to be commended."
"That's a good thing, right?" Helen said, worriedly.
"I would think so. I've been in conference with the Tribunal yesterday, concerning your feats in the expedition."
"I didn't do that much, honestly," Helen protested.
"You're being too modest, Helen. As I understand it, you convinced Lissandra to let you pass, you destroyed the Void Gate, you held your ground against a vicious assortment of Voidlings, Morgana, Sion, Jericho Swain...Really all very impressive feats." Helen had started blushing furiously. "The Tribunal and I agree that a reward is in order."

"You don't need to, really..." Helen mumbled vaguely.
"But we want to, Helen, that's the point. The thing is, we're don't think a rise in division or even tier will quite match your achievements."
Helen was more curious than shy at this point. "But if not that, then what?"
"Helen, we've decided to allow you to become a Champion."
Helen was stunned. No way in hell this was true. "A-are you serious? A Champion?"
"You heard me right, Helen. You'll get to choose your own abilities, obviously, and everything that comes with championship."
"You're pulling my leg, Councilor."
"I swear to you we're not."
Helen slumped in her chair, mouth agape. The High Councilor couldn't help but chortle at her expression. "Close you mouth, Helen. Some might consider it disrespectful."
I wrote this in a collaboration with Amonial (www.fanfiction.net/u/6227935/A… ): she provides the ideas and I write them down. Obviously I tried making it to the best of my capabilities. It's not entirely finished yet, but we are getting somewhere. Helen is a sort of story-version of her.

There we go.
